Paleo Prime [Review & Giveaway]

Paleo Prime

If you ask me, I would say that I have a pretty active lifestyle. I enjoy running, strength training, hiking outdoors and struggling through attempts to play tennis in the summer. In good weather, I also actively work on my hand eye coordination by playing catch with my guy.  I'm proud to say I no longer (rarely) turn sideways and jump away when trying to catch a ball that is flying towards me!

Since I know the importance of properly fueling up for activity, I was really happy to find Paleo Prime. Between Crossfit, his family, and athletics, Casey, the founder of Paleo Prime, understands the need to sustain your endurance throughout the day. Casey discovered Paleo a few years ago and after experiencing many positive effects, he was sold. His active lifestyle brought a fast realization of the lack of grab-and-go type snacks that were Paleo-friendly and could keep him supplied with enough energy throughout the day. To fill this need, he began creating and sharing his own Paleo snacks with friends... and thus, Paleo Prime was born.

What does Paleo Prime offer?
Paleo Prime is a one-stop shop when it comes to snack products. They have two flavors of grain-free granola, which includes Berry Crunch and Crunch Noir, and three varieties of Paleo cookies. Chocolate Chip is offered in addition to Vanilla Blueberry and Vanilla Raspberry. Fitting Casey's active lifestyle, Paleo Prime's line includes a Paleo Protein Bar as well.

What's my review?
The variety pack I received from Casey was stuffed with their products and I had a hard time deciding which to dive into first. Ultimately, chocolate won out and I went for the cookies.

Right off the bat, each of these cookies has a great texture. They almost reminded me of oatmeal cookies. They were thin, soft and still had a great amount of moisture. The Chocolate Chip tasted like a traditional cookie, which I really enjoyed. Sometimes people try and make Chocolate Chip cookies too fancy, but at the end of the day, I just want a good old fashioned one. The Vanilla Raspberry and Vanilla Blueberry were so good! Pre-Paleo, one of my guilty pleasures were the Fig Newton Fruit Thins. (These things, if you are unfamiliar.) These two cookie flavors reminded me of them, which I really liked. It was a little throwback to my favorite snacks without the junk. The bits of fruit in each of these are small enough that they are well spread throughout the cookie so you get a nice flavor in each bite. The fruit flavor, whether it is blueberry or raspberry, balanced out quite nice with the vanilla. My personal favorite was definitely the Vanilla Blueberry.

On to the granola! In comparison to other Paleo-friendly granola I have tried, these are on the sweeter side. These will definitely satisfy that sweet tooth and knock out any inkling of a sugar craving you have. Crunch Noir was the PERFECT mix of chocolate and coffee.  "Hi, my name is Katie and I have a coffee problem." Berry Crunch is the other flavor and what I particularly enjoyed with this one is that it isn't just one berry. Paleo Prime combines both blueberries and cranberries in this mix and the two really balance each other out. I enjoyed this flavor sprinkled on top of some Organic, whole milk Greek yogurt. It doesn't get any better than that.

My final product tasting was the Paleo Prime Protein Bar. I waited until the perfect opportunity to see what this bar was all about and opted to eat it an hour before I went on a long run. The 12 grams of protein gave me the boost I needed and I felt good about what I was putting in my body. While a lot of Paleo bars tend to be comprised of mostly nuts and seeds, making them more granola-like, this one was not.  I took that as a good thing because when it comes to athletic endurance I don't want to be fueling off of only nuts and seeds. My past experiences with Paleo Bars made me appreciate the use of Egg White protein and coconut oil in this one even more. It is definitely a great choice for quick, hefty dose of protein.

Whether you are picking up the cookies, a pack of the granola, or throwing a protein bar in your bag, these are the perfect choice for on the go energy.
