Dairy Free Golden Latte

Morning mantra: "shut up and bring me coffee." That's how I feel every. single. workday. It is hard to believe I never even tasted coffee until I was 23. Especially considering I'm pretty sure it now runs in my blood. I was so disgusted by anything mocha/latte/espresso flavored that I never even wanted to give coffee a try. Instead, I consumed endless amounts of diet soda (you know, the healthier option. HA!) Fast-forward three years and here I am. A coffee-addicted 26 year old, confident that you'll have to pry the mug out of my cold, dead hands. 

They say that coffee is good for your heart, so really, I'm just doing myself a favor. While I normally drink it black, I've been playing with some alternate varieties. Inspired by the "Golden Smoothie" I'm addicted to at Kitchfix  (use this link for $15 off!) I decided to shake up my norm with a little turmeric and honey. This similarly named Golden Latte has some added health benefits & a great, subtly sweet flavor.


Golden Latte

Time: 5 mins
Yields: 1 serving

Ingredients:
8 oz of coffee
1 tbs coconut milk
½ tbs ghee OR homemade dairy-free butter *
½ tbs coconut oil
1 egg white
½ tbs honey
½ tsp turmeric
¼ tsp vanilla
1 tbs collagen protein *Optional

*If you prefer, you can use an additional 1/2 tbs of coconut oil in replacement of ghee/homemade butter
Steps:
  1. Combine all ingredients and blend (using stand-up or immersion blender) until well mixed and slightly foamy.
  2. Enjoy this while waking up and mentally preparing yourself to take on the world.

Notes: If you prefer a sweeter drink, add up to ½ tbs of additional honey
