Slow Cooker Spare Ribs [Guest Post: Play Paleo]

There is nothing I love more than a good slow cooker recipe (except maybe french fries) and these spare ribs have me drooling! They say when looking at food online, you eat with your eyes first. If that's the case, I am going to grow to twice my size visiting Play Paleo, where there are recipes like Bacon Meatballs or these Bolognese Stuffed Mushrooms.
Finley is a Southern transplant, originally from Chicago, that sports an easy-going attitude. She has a love for bacon and wine with an equal dedication to a healthy lifestyle. Needless to say, we got along pretty well right from the start. I'm crossing my fingers that whenever she visits the ol' Windy City next, she'll swing by to share some sass, southern stories and (most definitely) these spare ribs with me.
First, let me start off by saying how humbled and thrilled I am to be sharing a recipe on Katie’s awesome site. Have you guys seen that frickin’ cheesecake recipe? I mean…Come. On. We agreed that a 4th of July recipe swap would be really fun, so my mind automatically shifted to meat mode. For some, 4th of July inspires red white and blue popsicle cravings…for me…it’s all about getting my hands (and face) on as many burgers, wings and ribs as possible. In that case, pork spare ribs seemed like to obvious recipe to contribute.
I made these in a slow cooker because A) I’m lazy and B) cooking spare ribs low and slow means the meat falls off the bones. Plus, using your slow cooker will free up all your grill space for burgers, dogs and brats. Because it’s 4th of July and you can never have too much meat. With minimal effort and maximum flavor and juiciness, these spare ribs will be the star of your 4th of July show!
- 3 lb pork spare ribs
- 3/4 cup bone broth
- 1/4 cup Paleo ketchup
- 2 tbs apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbs coconut aminos
- 1 tbs honey
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 2 tsp sea salt
Note: If desired, flip the ribs halfway through the cooking time.
